Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Utah

The Med Peds Residency Program at the University of Utah School of Medicine was initiated on a trial basis in 1989 with two resident trainees who successfully graduated in June 1993; both graduates have subsequently been board-certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics, and now work in environments that allow them to practice with both adult and pediatric patients.  Because of this initial success, and with further stimulation from the progressive emphasis on primary care in national health care policy, in 1994 the Departments of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine formally committed to maintaining and enhancing a Medicine-Pediatrics Residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine, with the goals and objectives described above.
