Vacation:
3 weeks per year through all four years of training. Vacation weeks are balanced between internal medicine and pediatric blocks. One week of vacation during the intern year is scheduled during the final week of the intern year prior to starting senior resident duties.
Special effort is made to assure that residents are not scheduled "on call" during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Addtional Benefits:
- Free Covered Parking at PCMC, free parkng at VAMC and LDSH for all Med Peds Residents
- $1000 Educational Stipend "Book Money" to be spent at the residents discretion on educational materials over the 4 year training program
- Medical and dental insurance: Choice of plans for health coverage for houseofficer and family, with premium costs shared by resident and University Hospital. Group dental insurance available at nominal monthly charge.
- Life insurance: Group life insurance equal to amount of salary at no charge. Additional insurance up to maximum of $400,000 may be purchased.
- Disability insurance: Houseofficer may select policy with own-occupation clause in the amount of approximately $2,000 per month with built-in cost of living rider. Additional options may be purchased.
- Malpractice insurance: Provided by the hospital for professional activities that are an approved part of the training program.
- Meals: provided for housestaff required to spend the night in any affiliated hospital as part of his/her training program.
- Leave (including parental, family, sick, educational and military): Determined by institutional and departmental guidelines.
- Significantly reduced season pass rates for residents at several major ski areas (e.g. Alta, Snowbird...)
- Childcare: Campus facility is available, space permitting.
- DEA, Utah Medical License and License renewals are paid for by the University hospital and respective departments
- Expenses incurred in association with scientific presentations by a resident at a meeting will be funded by the department
- Residents' research fund is also available to fund small research grants
- Other benefits: Reduced tuition, discounts for bookstore and admission to entertainment, sports, and cultural activities; library and credit union privileges available as offered to all University employees.
