Med-Peds Continuity Clinics

Med Peds residents participate in continuity clinic experience two half days per week during all of the four years of training at our two combined med peds continuity clinic sites. The two sites are located in the Salt Lake Valley and are University of Utah sponsored clinics supervised by two dually certified clinic faculty in internal medicine and pediatrics: University of Utah Health Network Redwood Center and University of Utah Health Network Westridge Center.  With two clinics per week, each resident has an opportunity to work at both sites with each preceptor and benefit from the varying styles of practice and patient problems seen at each clinic. All residents begin their training with clinic appointments at both combined clinic sites and maintain those appointments throughout the four years of training.

  • Dr. SolomonUUHN Redwood Clinic: This is a combined internal medicine and pediatrics outpatient continuity clinic affiliated with the University of Utah and located in western Salt Lake City. This clinic is staffed by Dr. Margaret Solomon, a board certified clinic faculty member in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.  Dr. Solomon completed her residency training at the Harvard Med Peds Program and joined the faculty in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics in 2005.  The Redwood Clinic provides the program with an outstanding opportunity for residents to share experiences, learn from one another and build camaraderie amongst their fellow medicine-pediatrics colleagues while seeing a diverse population of infants, children, young adults and the elderly. The clinic offers onsite urgent care, radiology, laboratory, ophthalmology, cardiology, general gastroenterology and endoscopy services. The aforementioned, in addition to an onsite pharmacy, is a great convenience to our patients who come from varied ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Dr. FlynnUUHN Westridge Clinic: This is a combined internal medicine and pediatrics outpatient continuity clinic affiliated with the University of Utah and located in western Salt Lake City. This clinic is staffed by Dr. Michael Flynn, a board certified clinic faculty member in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.  Dr. Flynn completed his residency training at the University of Rochester Med Peds Program in 2004 and after a year of private practice in Salt Lake City, joined the faculty in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics in 2005.  The Westridge Clinic provides the residents with an excellent opportunity to share experiences, learn from one another and build camaraderie with one another.  Similarly to the Redwood Center, med peds residents see a diverse population of infants, children, young adults and the elderly. The clinic offers onsite radiology, laboratory, ophthalmology, optometry, OB/GYN and pharmacy services. These are a great convenience to our patients who come from varied ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Med-Peds Ambulatory Care Didactic Conference

Our combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics clinics are the site for the weekly Med Peds Ambulatory Care Didactic Conference. Sessions are led by Med Peds residents and faculty and cover core topics specific to ambulatory med peds.  Conferences are tele-videoconferenced between Redwood and Westridge clinics to assure the participation of all residents each week.  Each conference is 30 minutes in duration and takes place prior to the start of patient care.
